DAY AT WIMBLEDON LAWN TENNIS CLUB SW19
Wednesday 06 June 2018

A excited group of members and guests visited the home of the Wimbledon Championships today prior to the tournament.  With a coffee and homemade cookies on arrival we were then taken round the ground by a blue badge guide and saw the ground being prepared for the greatest tournament in the world.
We walked round and saw the No.1 Court with extra hospitality soon to have a retractable roof next year, Henman Hill without the Big Screen and Spectators.  We looked inside Court No 18 where the longest match on record was played by John Isner and Nicholas Mahut, came across a cute sniffer dog and owner,  looked inside the Millenium Building where Members have their lunch during the Championships, plus the Players Interview Room and the Press Room where we had our photograph taken behind the famous desk.
After a tasty sandwich lunch in the Wingfield Restaurant we headed off to the Shop & Museum.
The Museum offers a comprehensive collection of Tennis through the ages - there is a CGI Theatre showing a 3D film of players and events.
The ground is open all year round to the public bar two weeks during the Championships, unless you have a ticket.
Well worth visiting which can be booked on line or just turning up on the day.
Lucky me, I’m going to the Men’s Finals this year....... Aren’t you Wimbledon green with envy ?
